Our programs reduce isolation, build friendships, and create purpose.
The Fair Bluff Senior Center provides Congregate Meals Monday thru Friday at 12:00 PM. Our meals, hot & cold, are brought to the center daily. Congregate Meals are provided at 7 sites in the county, with over 70,000 meals are served in the program per year.
These meals are 1/3 the daily recommended dietary allowance for older adults 60 years or older. Persons 60 years or older may attend any of Columbus County Department of Aging Senior Centers for a nutritious meal, nutrition education, and appropriate supportive services to enhance their independence.
A registration form must be completed and signed on the first visit.
Home Delivered Meals, which are meals delivered to homebound persons by volunteers, are served out of four of the nutrition sites/senior centers. These routes are established only in areas with available volunteers. Persons who are 60 years old or older, home bound and only able to go out for medical appointments are eligible. A home assessment is made on each individual, and then eligibility is determined by the Nutrition Supervisor at the Department of Aging.
There is no charge for the meals but a consumer contribution would be appreciated to share in the cost and help serve additional persons; No one will be denied a meal because they are unable to share in the cost.
Our Health Series Program features rotating partners that bring medical professionals and wellness experts directly to seniors in an accessible format that help promote active aging and health literacy.
